February 2021

OMG, it’s already February and I realised that I haven’t updated the website for sometime.  Luckily, the guys at Piernine who look after the site for me are making a few tweaks so you should get updates via the mailing list in future.  And I’ll be adding more tips and news on a regular basis.

So what have I been up to?  Between July and December I was really busy doing lots of home courses and working within the guidelines after the first lockdown ended. The second lockdown was slightly different but again, it was all done under guidance.  I’ve been training dogs to accept masks and social distancing as well as the basics of training.

The new year started with me being featured in the local Cranleigh Magazine in January talking about my move to the area and how my life has changed.  But mostly about how much my life is enriched by my own dogs and my clients.  I have a few copies left if anyone wants one.

I did send out a couple of newsletters so that I could let you know about the training book coming out.  I’m having to delay that for a month or so but I have at least five books in the pipeline covering puppy, teenagers, senior dogs, reactive dogs and rescues.  I’m seeing a lot of Romanian rescue dogs and the challenges they face are very different to the home rescues which is challenging but very rewarding.

And of course I am due to complete my behaviour course and the dog reiki course.  Just in time to start my course to become a Ttouch practitioner.  If you don’t know about Ttouch, it’s a very natural and holistic way of helping your dog if they are in pain or have problems you may not realise. I’ve loved this technique for many years and already use it in my training.

The latest lockdown meant that I couldn’t travel to see my clients in Surbiton and Epsom so I’ve taken the very difficult decision to not accept any new clients in my old area.  However, I am still happy to see my current clients and I will, if I get myself organised, be offering online courses including the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme.  And there will be some live Q and A on Facebook so if you like the page you’ll be able to get access to me directly.

Finally, Edie and Rupert enjoyed the snow recently with Rupert really having zoomies around the Kilns and getting lots of icicles stuck to his legs which meant he had to have a warm shower to get the ice off him.  He turned four years old on January 3rd and we had a bit of a celebration with a pork pie!  He has qualified for Crufts again but we have no idea if it’s going ahead this year or not.  The one thing that 2020 taught me was never to plan too far in the future and nothing is set in stone.

Stay safe and keep in touch,

Sara, Edie and Rupert.
