PUPPY TRAINING
What sort of relationship do you want with your pup?
Have you got a new pup and don’t know where to start?
Are you THINKING about getting a pup and haven’t made the decision yet?
I’ve been training puppies of all breeds, sizes, shapes and temperaments for many years. I’ve trained lots of owners too! I love teaching people to learn about their dog and help them to start their journey to getting the dog they want. As a Royal Kennel Club Accredited Instructor in Companion Dog Training I have a good idea of what you should be learning but I always enjoy tweaking the courses to cover more individual ideas and needs. I’ve worked with autistic and disabled clients which often give me so much back to put into my courses.
I have two types of training that I offer.
The Home Start Puppy Package for very young pups or owners who can’t attend classes due to time constraints or prefer to have 1-2-1 training at home.
If you want to do a group session, The Puppy Club is just what you need. Based in two venues – inside and outside – it gives you a chance to meet other owners and pups as well as socialise your puppy.
Details of both services are below.
Home start puppy package
Edie, the Bedlington Terrier, on her first day at her new home!
I have taught many classes at vets and in other venues but I truly believe that a very young puppy needs to learn the basics before going out into the wider world. If you can get focus from your pup before they see post boxes, shops, other people and other dogs, you will have a good start. And while socialisation is important, it needs to be done in a fun and relaxed way to help your pup cope with any situation.
The Home Start package consists of four sessions lasting approximately 45 minutes. Each week we work on the basics of training plus you get advice about how to help your puppy settle in, nipping, house training, leaving your dog at home alone as well as tailoring the sessions to you and your lifestyle. Because we work at your home it means we are teaching your puppy in the place where the work needs to be done to build a positive and harmonious relationship.
You get a homework sheet after each session to practice as well as advice about nutrition, feeding and creating a relaxing environment for your pup. And best of all, your pup will learn to trust you no matter where you go!
(Evening and Saturday morning appointments available subject to availability)

THE PUPPY CLUB
The Puppy Club is a completely new way of training your pup in a group setting without getting tied into a long course. You pay an annual membership fee and it gives you a year's access to discount on classes, events and products.
What's included?
A weekly group training session for your puppy in a venue in Coxhoe on Thursday evenings (except the first week of the month). Pay for each session individually, come to as many as you want. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes and you get homework to practice!
Each week we will cover a different subject but include exercises for sit, recall, loose lead walking, settle and stay - all the important things you need to teach your new dog.
Nutritional advice - what to feed, what NOT to feed, how to deal with allergies, picky eaters and weight watching!
Understanding Canine Body Language - you'll learn to recognise the cues that your pup is giving when they are nervous, scared, happy or over excited. More importantly, you'll learn to deal with other people's dogs and situations in the real world.
Social sessions on the first Sunday of each month at K9 Freedom Fields Coxhoe at 11.30am - we'll do lots of recalls in the fully enclosed field to help you teach your pup to come back and what to do when they won't come back.
There will be other events such as visiting a shopping centre or garden centre and even the pub! This will help your pup learn how to behave in a variety of environments.
