Dear All,
It’s been one of the busiest weeks of the year so far! Saturday saw us talking to loads of owners and dogs at the Cranleigh Carnival organised by the local Cranleigh Lions. Rupert and Edie took it in turns to come out of the crate and socialise and we all had fun.
On Sunday Rupert (aka Tcheria Tchorister) went to the Bedlington Terrier Association championship show being held at Newbury Showground. After nearly 18 months away from showing, he did really well even if his tail carriage was a little high. Me thinks I may have to do some training with him. It was me that was a bundle of nerves. Rupert did get a reserve rosette but the day was won by our lovely friend, Kathy Alders and her dog Poppy (aka Catchfraze Moment in Time). Poppy not only won best veteran bitch but best veteran and has now booked her place for Crufts next year. Kathy is a brilliant groomer of Bedlingtons and she’s the one that keeps Rupert and Edie looking so good. Not only that, but she supports me at the shows too and keeps me from getting too nervous. When Rupert won at Crufts in 2019, it was a team effort with Kathy very much involved. And Rupert loves his Auntie Kathy!
So it was no surprise that we decided to take a break for a few days in Selsey. I’ve never taken the dogs on holiday with me (mostly because dogs = work) but I decided to try and see what happened. You can read all about it on the website https://c3878291.myzen.co.uk/holiday-tips/. It was a really nice break and we all enjoyed it. I was surprised by how much the dogs enjoyed visiting an open air museum as well. And we’ll definitely being going away again!
Finally, the social sessions are starting tomorrow at Smithbrook Kilns. Both groups are fully booked and the teenage group has a waiting list! If you want to register for the list, sign up at the website and I’ll add you on. It’s been ages since I taught a proper class and I’ve missed it quite a bit since the days of the Kennel Club Good Citizens on a Friday night. Everyone who saw me in action – I really did enjoy those classes as much as you seemed to.
Happy holidays everyone and hope to see you all soon!
Sara, Edie and Rupert.
PS. I’m delighted to confirm that we have been accepted for membership of the Surrey Hills Enterprises. I love living in this amazing area and am making some amazing connections
