About me
A highly experienced Holistic Behaviourist and Royal Kennel Club Accredited Instructor helping you to live in harmony with your dog.
Passionate about dogs
I’m Sara Bridgeman and I’ve been passionate about dogs since childhood. I walked all the local dogs for free and I even had my own toy dogs which I played with endlessly. When I moved into my first home I was able to have a dog of my own for the first time. Over the years, I’ve had many different types of dogs including some with very challenging characters and “quirks”!
As a holistic behaviourist, I work with puppies, adult dogs, senior dogs, dogs who are nervous, reactive or anxious and rescue dogs to develop a relaxed and calm way of nose-to-tail training that includes every element of your dog’s needs and lifestyle.
Edie
Rupert (Tcheria Tchorister)
He and Edie are playmates and best friends and even though she can find him a little annoying, she loves him very much. He also loves being with his “girls” who he thinks are his harem. Unfortunately, he’s rather hen-pecked by them all!
Kathy
Kathy has recently joined the Rewards Team as my assistant and is now helping me by answering enquiries on the emails and keeping a close eye on my diary.
We have been good friends for years and Kathy is a very talented groomer in her own right. She specialises in Bedlington Terriers and keeps Rupert looking perfect for his shows. Kathy has bred and shown Bedlington Terriers for many years with a lot of success. She now lives with two Bedlington Terriers (see below) which we co-own.
boudika (Yarbach cute cookie)
Known as Boudi, she is now two years old and has already become a big part of the team. She’s as quick as a whippet and has a bit of a temper tantrum when she gets tired (her poor toys get a good shaking!) but Boudi has already qualified for Crufts 2025. She is also learning to be an emotional support dog for Kathy and is now working with me and Edie part time visiting dogs who need to learn about socialisation and how to play.
freya (bisbee bolt from the blue)
This really is our baby, Freya also known as Warty (short for warthog) is 18 months old. She is a little tank, very confident and Rupert’s nemesis! Freya never misses a meal, loves a cuddle and has a collection of fluff that she finds everywhere. She’s also qualified for Crufts 2025 and was awarded Best Puppy Bitch and Best Reserve Puppy at the recent Bedlington Terrier Association Champ Show.
The following two dogs taught me more about dog training than any book or course. Sadly missed, Bertie and Bella were my inspiration for becoming a trainer.
Bertie
Bella
Bella came to us at 18 months old, an ex-breeding bitch from a puppy farm via Pro Dogs Direct. She had been bred from at least once and still showed the trauma of losing her pups and the environment that she was brought up in. Always a loving dog, it took her at least six months to settle in and even then she was never truly house trained. At that stage in my training I knew that I had to accept her for the dog she was and work with her. She had some funny quirks but she also could be a wonderful companion to those she loved. It was because of her barking and unsocial behaviour that I started up the Small Dog Social Club. We would walk with a group of other small, anxious dogs and owners and just let them get to know each other. Bella was amazing with the pups and I can’t remember how many of them she accompanied on their first off lead experience! She and Bertie were devoted to each other and when she passed away in 2013 he was totally lost without her as we all were.
